There’s always a few things in your life that you want to do, those things that you really want to do. That you feel like “my life will not have been lived to the best of my ability if I don’t do _______”. And then you start to do them, and you have that moment where you say to yourself “I never knew it would be this much work!” And you check yourself and think about whether you’re really into what you’re doing “enough” that you’re willing to put in all the extra work.
I recently had a moment like this with my music, realizing that keeping up things like a blog, or social networking pages, eventually a website & band merch store, would take so much time/effort. Steve Pavlina has an interesting thought about working hard:
If you want to achieve some really big and interesting goals, you have to learn to fall in love with hard work.
I love music. I love making it, performing it, connecting with people through it, telling stories through music. Everything that music is and does at its root, is something that I love. So, I’m really looking forward to what this project brings, and I’m totally willing to work hard at it. Rita Mae Brown once said “Don’t hope more than you’re willing to work“, and I’m hoping and believing for big things.
Thanks again for all of your support!
